Lake Skinner Boat Speed Limit

All boats on the lake are restricted to a maximum speed of 10m.p.h. Any boat travelling 100 meters from the shore is restricted to 5 mph. If you are still unsure about speed limit restrictions, you can always talk with Lake Skinner staff for further clarifications.

A common question asked for first time visitors to the lake is can you swim? Well, swimming in Lake Skinner is forbidden.  As Lake Skinner is managed by the Metropolitan water district and the source of local water supply, there can be no body contact with the water.

Please keep this in mind if you are planning a boat rental trip with the kids and they want to hit the lake waters. Wake-boarding, swimming and any water sport that would mean there is contact with the water is not allowed.

One thing to note is there is a nearby off reservoir swimming area where you can enjoy a swim if you want too.

Requirements For Fishing On Lake Skinner

To fish on the waters of Lake Skinner, you are required to have a California fishing permit and a park permit. You can purchase both at the marina.

Even children under 15 years are required to have these licenses.

One day fishing permits cost $10 for adults and $8 for children.

Cost For Entry Into Lake Skinner

The cost to get into Lake Skinner is $6 per adult and $3 per child (12 & younger) These fees don't include the fishing permit costs mentioned above.
